About Kokoro Reader
A focused browser interface for trying open-source Kokoro text to speech without creating an account.
What the reader does
Kokoro Reader loads a quantised Kokoro model in a supported browser, turns English text into speech on the device, and lets the user listen to or download the resulting WAV file.
Why the first version runs locally
The core job can be tested without accounts, cloud projects, or uploaded source text. Model and voice files are requested from their host, but text entered in the reader and generated audio are not sent to a Kokoro Reader application server.
Independence and open-source foundations
Kokoro Reader is an independent interface. It is not affiliated with the Kokoro model authors, Hugging Face, or the upstream software projects. Those projects and model files remain governed by their own maintainers and licences.
Current limits
The reader currently focuses on English, needs JavaScript and WebAssembly, and can be demanding on mobile devices. Generated speech may contain pronunciation, timing, or quality problems and should be reviewed before use.
